What is the SAT?

The SAT is a standardized admissions exam taken by high-school students applying to US colleges and universities. The current digital SAT has two sections — Evidence-Based Reading & Writing and Math — each scored 200–800 for a total score of 400–1600, with no penalty for wrong answers.

What is the SAT test format?

The digital SAT runs about 2 hours 14 minutes. Each section is split into two adaptive modules — how you do on the first module decides the difficulty of the second.

Reading & Writing64 min2 adaptive modules, 54 questions
Math70 min2 adaptive modules, 44 questions

What is a good SAT score?

A 1200 puts you around the 68th percentile and a 1400 is roughly the 93rd. Top-tier universities report middle-50% ranges of about 1460–1580, so aim for the upper half of your target school’s range. Add up your section scores and see your percentile with our SAT score calculator.

How should I practice for the SAT?

Start with a full-length mock to get a baseline, then use section practice and question-type drills to work on your weakest area. The SAT is fully digital and adaptive, so practicing in the same on-screen format — as you do here — builds the pacing the real modules demand.

SAT practice tests — FAQ

Are these SAT practice tests really free?

Yes — free mock tests, module tests, and topic drills are open right now with no payment and no limit on retakes. Deeper sets unlock with a free account, and the full bank will be part of the SAT pass.

How many SAT practice tests are available?

There are currently 12 full-length mock tests, 16 module tests, and topic practice across 8 topics — about 10,960 questions in total.

Are the mock tests timed like the real SAT?

Full-length mocks follow the real exam's section order and timing, and sections auto-submit when time runs out. Topic drills are untimed so you can focus on accuracy first.

Do I get my SAT score and answer explanations?

Yes. Objective sections are scored instantly when you finish, and every question comes with an answer explanation — create a free account to unlock explanations, answer review, and saved history.
